The Mansaray Foundation

No woman should die giving life.

The Mansaray Foundation is a nonprofit organization working alongside rural communities and health facilities in Sierra Leone to strengthen maternal and child healthcare.

Who we are

We believe where a woman lives shouldn’t determine the care she receives.

TMF works alongside communities, healthcare professionals, and health facilities in rural Sierra Leone to help strengthen the systems surrounding mothers and babies.

We believe sustainable change happens when communities are heard, healthcare workers are supported, health facilities are strengthened, and local capacity is built to last.

Our mission

To improve maternal and child health in rural Sierra Leone by strengthening the systems surrounding women throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and the postnatal period.

Our story

It started with a commitment to mothers.

What began as a commitment to improving maternal health has grown through years of listening, learning, partnership, and working alongside rural communities and healthcare professionals in Sierra Leone.

2020 to today

    Deepening care and clinical support

    A broader circle of care.

By this stage, TMF's work spanned maternal-health support, ultrasound access, safe motherhood, community engagement, diagnostics, medical supplies and equipment, nutrition and feeding support, and health-facility strengthening. TMF materials reported more than 1,000 free obstetric ultrasound scans by this period.

    Our current chapter

    Connecting the maternal-health journey.

Building on the previous five years, TMF is connecting Maternal Health & Wellness, Diagnostics & Clinical Capacity, Safe Motherhood & Facility Delivery, and Medical Supplies & Health Facility Support with referrals and postnatal continuity. One Journey. Connected Care. This includes a $13,400 integrated Kabombeh continuum-of-care initiative, with $6,000 dedicated to delivery and postnatal infrastructure.

The people behind the mission

People power change.

TMF brings together people in Sierra Leone and beyond who share a commitment to stronger maternal healthcare and healthier communities.

What we believe

Listen locally

Solutions should begin with the people closest to the challenge.

Work together

Lasting change requires communities, healthcare workers, partners, and supporters working together.

Strengthen, don't replace

We work alongside existing health facilities and local systems.

Build to last

Our goal is stronger local capacity and sustainable change.

Partnership in action

Reliable power for stronger health facilities

With GIZ support, solar power systems were installed at Panlap, Binkolo, Kabombeh, and Kalangba, strengthening the infrastructure that supports maternal and community health services.

This is what partnership can make possible.

Our vision

The future we’re working toward

A Sierra Leone where mothers and newborns in rural communities have stronger pathways to timely, quality, respectful healthcare—and where local health systems have the people, resources, and capacity to sustain that care.
